Pastoral help (Efesius 4.11) is the only way of counseling, which uses spiritual resources, and the psychologic comprehension for healing and growth.
The pastoral help is unique and different from the others types of counseling. As a Shepherd should heal the sheeps wounds or take care of them when they are sick, so the Pastor of the church should help relieve the emotional wounds suffered by those in his “flock”.
The pastoral counseling uses the Biblical truths, explaining and helping how to apply them in personal life (II Timothy 3:16). The Word of God has the special power – the power to “penetrate even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). The Word of God is the pastors principal instrument in counseling and because of the years of study, he is in the unique position to use the sword of true.
